“Cards Against Dystonia” Casino Night is Betting on a Cure

Cards Against Dystonia Casino Night on September 9 in Shakopee, MN invited participants to try their luck at blackjack, poker, and a sprawling silent auction in support of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF). Sponsors included Delta Air Lines, St. Paul Hotel, Mancini’s Char House and Lounge, Vermillion State Bank, and others. As proceeds continue to be calculated, the event is estimated to have raised $15,000.

Ben Humphrey and Mike Erickson spearheaded the event in honor of mother/aunt Donna Driscoll who is a DMRF Board Member and has lived with painful, debilitating dystonia symptoms for more than 15 years. Dystonia turned her life upside down, forcing her to give up playing competitive USTA team tennis and her career as an educator. To this day dystonia impedes her ability to walk without pain and conduct everyday tasks.

Events organized by the Driscoll/Erickson/Humphrey family in recent years, including the Donna E. Driscoll Walk for Dystonia and Annual Minnesota Dystonia Golf Classic, have cumulatively raised more than $160,000 in support of the DMRF.
