DMRF Supporter, Nathan Monroe, was diagnosed with Dystonia following a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Dystonia is a brain disorder that causes the muscles in the body to contract and spasm involuntarily. People with dystonia can’t control the movement of their own bodies.
The effects left him in constant pain and meant he could no longer walk with a steady gate and had to use a cane. He was unable to perform daily living tasks, such as eating, showering and getting dressed. Today, he is living a much fuller life and his goal is to reach out to others with Dystonia, to increase public awareness about what it is, and support research that aims to cure this disorder.
