Vision

  • Blepharospasm (dystonia of the eye muscles) is the form of dystonia that affects the eyes in the most obvious way, but other forms of dystonia may also affect vision.

  • Tremors and spasms may make it difficult to insert contact lenses or wear glasses.

  • Bifocals create a special challenge. For some people, “executive” or “progressive” lenses are easier to use than the traditional bifocal lenses.

  • Changing the midline of glasses may make them easier to wear.

  • Informing your eye doctor about dystonia and how your individual symptoms affect you will help you work as a team to address your vision needs.
