Sarah's Blog: What Dystonia Has Taught Me
10/9/07
Living with dystonia has taught me a lot of
different things. First off dystonia has taught me not to take anything for
granted. Dystonia also taught me that I am a very determined and strong willed
person. I do not give up when the going gets tough. I have learned not to give
up on myself because I can do it. In addition I have learned that when someone
tells me I can't do something it gives me that much more strength to prove them
wrong. Living with dystonia has taught me that other people really do care.
People want to help you and try to understand what you are going through. People want to be educated on dystonia, so this can be the perfect
opportunity to share your story.
My dream for the future is to help people. I
think it is very important to reach out and help people both in my career and
in my community. As far as dystonia goes, of course my dream is for a cure but
until then better treatments for those of us who are not responding to what is
already out there.
