Sarah's Blog: My Experience with Massage
2/14/07
I have done my research on
massages and have learned a lot! I was thinking it is a waste of money. Going
to a chiropractor did not help me, so I was skeptical about how a massage might
help me. But I am so glad I tried it! I’m now calling it my mini miracle
treatment. It was startling to see what a difference one massage made. I
figured one massage would make me less sore for 20 minutes and then I’ll be
back to my old self. I was almost totally pain free for a day. Some may say
“one day, big deal,” but I say one whole day, WOW! Sign me up! I cannot recall
a day in the past gazillion days of living with dystonia where I was almost
totally pain free. So this was huge for me. And what I was also really excited
about was I was able to keep my head and neck centered a lot more! This did not
last one day but seven days! By this point I am jumping for joy and I am
budgeting my money so I can get one at least every month. The good news is that
some insurance companies will even cover massages! I go to a chiro-spa so you
may want to look for something like that in your area.
I had a one-hour Swedish
massage. I am getting another one tomorrow. As I try different methods I will
update you on which one works best for me. I am hoping to try the deep tissue
massage in March. I cannot wait! I hope it is fabulous! I find myself now
counting down the days until my next massage!
Here is some information I have gathered about different forms of massage.
