Off-Broadway Production Features Dystonia Character

The Women’s Project theatre is proud to present the New York premiere of “Crooked” by Catherin Trieschmann.

Crooked” tells the story of 14-year-old Laney, an aspiring writer with a vast imagination. Her adolescence is made all the more awkward by dystonia. When she befriends the earnest, but hapless born-again Maribel, Laney's penchant for storytelling spirals out of control. The girls and Laney’s mother grapple with matters of faith, fantasy, and sexuality, and discover that divine and earthly love may not be so far apart.

The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation is partnering with the Women’s Project to help educate “Crooked” audience members on dystonia.
