Volunteers Needed for Cervical Dystonia Research Study Continued...
You may qualify to take part in this research study if:
Dystonia Group
- You were diagnosed by a neurologist with cervical dystonia
- Your dystonia is NOT treated by oral medications or botulinum toxin injections (Botox or Myobloc)
- You do not have other neurological or psychiatric conditions
- You are not taking "neuroactive" medications (such as antidepressants or ADHD medicine)
OR
Control Group:- You do NOT have dystonia
- You do not have any blood relatives with dystonia
- You do not have other neurological or psychiatric conditions
- You are not taking "neuroactive" medications (such as antidepressants or ADHD medicine)
People who take part in this research study will come to Massachusetts General Hospital for one visit. During the visit, individuals will be asked to:
- Give medical and family history information
- Have a brain imaging assessment while performing simple hand movements
The visit takes about 3 - 5 hours. During the brain imaging assessment, researchers take pictures of your brain using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. You will be asked to lie still for about 2 hours during this part of the research study.
Those who take part will receive parking stickers and $100 after the study visit.
