DMRF Member Bruce Ashkenas Publishes Novel


DMRF Member and author of titles including Aglow in the Bronx and The Name recently published a novel about a young boy growing up in Cleveland during 1950s who develops dystonia and is treated by Dr. Irving Cooper, a pioneer in neurosurgical procedures to treat dystonia. Sick Street  is available in print and and eBook format  through a number of major online book vendors and the publisher, Lulu.

Bruce has lived with dystonia since childhood and was himself one of Dr. Irving Cooper's young patients. Bruce has had a career as an archivist and writer. He resides with his family in Fairfax, Virginia.
