DMRF Appeals to SSA For Faster Claims

DMRF Appeals to SSA For Faster Claims

In December, Vice President of Public Policy Rosalie Lewis testified before the Social Security Administration's (SSA) Compassionate Allowance hearing in Washington, DC on behalf of persons disabled by dystonia who are eligible for SS disability benefits.

In an effort to help the most disabled Americans receive disability benefits as promptly as possible, the SSA is seeking input from patient organizations about disorders that may not be explicitly listed in the official Disability Listing of Impairments but that qualify a person for benefits with minimal objective medical information by nature of the disability they cause.

The December 2007 hearing was convened by Michael Astrue, Commissioner of Social Security. He is pictured below with Rosalie Lewis.
