Brian Runs Because He Can
DMRF Member Competes in Chicago Marathon to Support DMRF

Dystonia affects men, women, and children, robbing them of the ability to control the simplest of movements.

It happened to Brian, slowly at first. As a child, Brian started to notice a persistent ache in his jaw and a raspy quality in his voice. Then one day, he woke up and couldn't move his neck. Something was wrong, really wrong. After visiting several doctors over the course of years, Brian was finally able to put a name to it: dystonia. He was told there is no cure.

Brian has refused to let dystonia stop him from achieving his dreams and goals - marriage, children, a career, a fulfilling life. In 2009, Brian will be running in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on behalf of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF). With the loving support of family and friends, Brian runs because he can. He has become one of the DMRF's many accidental heroes, striving to live his life to the fullest and make a difference. We must join his fight and do the same for others like him. We cannot stop now.  People like Brian and hundreds of thousands of others affected by dystonia are waiting for a cure.
