Finding Support

Many people have never heard the word "dystonia" until their own diagnosis.

The process of obtaining a diagnosis and developing a treatment plan can seem overwhelming. In addition to seeking out expert medical care, the DMRF encouraged individuals in the dystonia community to develop a multi-level support network that includes contact with others who know firsthand what it is like to live with dystonia.

The DMRF partners with volunteers to sponsor local support groups and online support forums. Support groups provide local opportunities for information, camaraderie, and community activism. Online groups are available 24/7 and connect you to others in the community regardless of geography.
